The principle of operation and the construction of a mechanical mouse are very simple. Unfortunately, mechanical mice had one very unbearable drawback, this rubber ball was collecting an awful lot of dirt which caused it to get stuck. It is easy to guess what this resulted in.
The disadvantages of the predecessor were eliminated in the optical mouse by removing the mechanical parts. In their place were optical elements. The principle of operation in this case is a bit more complicated.
