Play Station 5 (PS5) is the upcoming home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Announced in 2019 year as the successor to PlayStation 4, is to be sold 12 November 2020 years in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea, a 19 November 2020 years for the rest of the world. It is expected, that the platform will be launched in two variants, as the primary PlayStation system 5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray compatible optical drive for retail gaming and PlayStation Store digital distribution, as well as a cheaper digital variant without a disc drive while maintaining digital download support.

First news on PlayStation 5 come from the lead author Mark Cerny, in an April interview with Wired magazine 2019 r. At the beginning 2019 r. Bloomberg reported in February 2020 r. from people familiar with the Sony manufacturing process, that the current bill for materials selected for the device is estimated at approx 450 USD total, which is due to the current higher cost of flash memory, for which mobile phone manufacturers had a high demand due to the introduction of 5G wireless connectivity. Bloomberg estimated, that the price of the PlayStation will be at least 470 USD, however, increased revenues from online subscription services may allow Sony to “greater flexibility” in terms of final equipment prices.

The main presentation of the game library for PlayStation 5 was scheduled for 4 June 2020 year, but has been postponed to 11 June in connection with events triggered by the protests of George Floyd. This presentation was also the premiere of the PlayStation external project 5.

PlayStation 5 It is powered by a custom 7nm AMD Zen CPU 2 with eight variable frequency cores limited to 3,5 GHz. The GPU is also a custom unit based on the AMD RDNA graphics architecture 2. Has 36 Variable frequency computing units limited to 2,23 GHz and can work with 10,28 teraflopsami. Both processors are monitored by a special boosting system, using AMD's SmartShift technology, which adjusts the frequency of these systems based on the current activity of both systems, for the ideal constant power consumption and SoC performance profile. It has a new audio technology called Tempest Engine, which not only allows you to account for hundreds of in-game audio sources compared to 50 for PlayStation 4, but also to present this sound depending on the device and the preferences of the end user. The system has 16 GB of GDDR6 SDRAM with bandwidth 448 GB/s. The console will support Bluetooth 5.1 and 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6).
